Week of November 6-10, 2023

Monday:   Students will describe major domestic problems faced by the leaders of the new republic.  Unit 5:1 Early Republic: Addressing Challenges Vocabulary Terms are assigned today, due Wednesday, and students will have a quiz over the terms Wednesday. (Taxation,  Impressment , Political Party , Foreign Policy , Isolationism , Neutrality, Embargo, Domestic Policy, Protective Tariffs, Republic)

Tuesday:   Students will summarize arguments regarding protective tariffs, taxation, and the banking system.  Research Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton (Background and role in the new government)

Wednesday:   Examine election results from Tuesday.  (Civic Responsibility);  Describe major domestic problems  such as national security, creating a stable economic system, and setting up the court system includingbut not limited to:

  • Whiskey Rebellion
  • National Security (Establishment of the U.S Army (1784), U.S Navy (1794), U.S. Marines (1798)
  • Immigration Issues

Thursday:  Compare and Contrast: (Then and Now:)  Protective Tariffs, taxation, and the banking system.   (Students will research where their personal property comes from and how the 1st administration addressed similar issues we are experiencing today.). https://www.visualcapitalist.com/us-largest-trading-partners-2022/

Friday:   Discuss and analyze a point of view in regards to the students’ knowledge of Veterans Day.
